Cari amici,
eccoci qui con un altro appuntamento in jazz... il “mio” jazz! Quello che
avete sempre condiviso con me come fruitori appassionati di questa musica
e miei estimatori. Di quest’ultima cosa in particolare vi ringrazio immensamente;
mi avete aiutato moltissimo ad andare avanti nonostante le continue
problematiche e le diffi coltà che non mancano mai. Ho iniziato nel lontano
1994 con questo quintetto suonando nei locali quasi sempre gratis per far
conoscere questa formazione e la sua musica. Molti mi dicevano che sbagliavo
ma poi ho avuto ragione io. In quel modo ho potuto poi permettermi di
farmi apprezzare, oltre che conoscere, e quindi iniziare un percorso professionale
riconosciuto poi sia a livello commerciale che soprattutto per i dischi
pubblicati. Fino ad arrivare a festeggiare con questo CD il ventennale del
gruppo riproponendo con nuovi arrangiamenti e nuove esecuzioni il meglio di
venti anni di discografi a con più di 150 brani registrati e tantissimi altri scritti
di mio pugno. È stata una fatica sceglierne solo 9 ai quali se ne sono aggiunti
altri due che ho sempre desiderato incidere senza mai riuscirvi. Undici brani
di cui ora andrò a spiegarvi singoli contenuti ed emozioni...

Dear friends
So here we are at another appointment with jazz (“my” jazz!)... the jazz that
you have always shared with me as passionate listeners to this music and as
my admirers and fans. I wish to sincerely thank you for one thing in particular:
the fact that you have helped me so much to keep going ahead despite
my continual problems and the diffi culties that have never been absent.
Way back in 1994 I started playing in bars and venues in a quintet, hardly
ever being paid so as to get this particular formation and its music as well
known as possible. Many people told me that I had the wrong approach but
in the end I was proven right. In this way I was able to be widely appreciated
and not just well known, and so I could start out on a career and a professional
journey that would receive commercial recognition, especially due to
the records released. And now with this CD we have come to celebrate the
twentieth anniversary of the group, with some new arrangements and new
versions to present the best of a twenty-year discography consisting of over
150 recorded tracks and many other pieces that I have written. It has been a
diffi cult task to pick out just 9, to which two more have been added that I had
always wanted to record without ever managing to get round to it. These are
eleven pieces, the contents and emotions of each of which I am now going
to explain to you…
