In their second album, «From a Window», the duo consisting of Federico De Vittor on piano and Sara Fortini on vocals –both born in Verona, but Federico from 2009 to 2014 lived in New York and from some years moved to London – continues to unveil their compositions, seamlessly blending influences, colors, and improvisational spaces. The seven tracks of the album – released three years after «Songs», also in duo and published by Emme Record – find an essential, intimate, and sincere dimension, akin to a photograph capturing a moment. Featuring songs in both Italian and English, «From a Window» opens with the infatuating rhythm of Da una finestra and concludes with Everytime, where drummer Marco Soldà joins the duo. Don’t Want to Know presents an original arrangement of a John Martyn song from the album «Solid Air», dedicated to Nick Drake, while Notti che non accadono mai is a Fortini’s adaptation of a poem by Alda Merini. «From a Window» meanders through lights and shadows, airy spaces, and unexpected pauses, weaving tales, sensations, fears, introspections and triumphs. Tracks like MHiS (acronym for "My Head is Safe") and Gaze at the Stars excel in conveying these sentiments, as does the brief yet evocative piano solo Pioggia.
