Press Release
Ten years after his last album recorded for Caligola Records, "Waves" - the third as leader after "Sirene" (2012, with Michele Polga) and "Mosaico" (2013, with Pietro Tonolo) - where he led a sexter including pianist John Taylor and vocalist Diana Torto, guitarist Riccardo Chiarion (Gorizia, 1974) returns to releasing with our label. Having passed the threshold of fifty, he does so at the head of a solid and close-knit trio, supported by two excellent young musicians, bassist (but also guitarist; not here) Paolo Jus from Friuli, born in 1992, and drummer Francesco Vattavaz from Trieste, born in 1999. Both were his students at the Conservatory G.Tartini in Trieste, where he had himself graduated many years erlier. In this long span of time, there has only been "Quiet Stories" (2020), a self-produced solo guitar album, but above all an intense teaching activity. The trio performs nine original compositions by the leader, which are appreciated for their refined harmonic texture and rhythmic solidity. Paolo Jus and Francesco Vattovaz are not only virtuosos of their respective instruments, but also open and receptive musicians, able of weaving a dense and fruitful dialogue with Riccardo Chiarion's guitar, thus contributing to the success of his long-awaited new album.Track List
