Press Release

Completano la formazione, insieme a Francesca, Jacopo Fagioli (tromba, flicorno), Francesco Panconesi (sax tenore), Federico D’Angelo (sax baritono, clarinetto basso), Lorenzo Pellegrini (chitarra), Luca Sguera (tastiere, elettronica), Alessandro Mazzieri (basso, elettronica) e Mattia Galeotti (batteria).

LILAC FOR PEOPLE
Debut Album of Singer and Composer Francesca Gaza

On the 5th of April Lilac for People, the debut album of singer and composer Francesca Gaza will be available in all official stores and on all digital platforms (Auand Records/ Pirames International Distribution).
Lilac for People was anticipated by two singles “Lilac” and “Almond Tree” and was composed and arranged by Francesca Gaza for her octet, a modern ensemble jazz-rooted but nourished by pop and electronic influences in creating an original and dreamlike chamber jazz-pop.

In her debut album, the 23-year-old singer-composer shows poetic ability in lyric writing as well as a very personal arrangement style, rich in details and with a clear artistic direction leading into her own world of sound to be discovered.

The compositions embody a rich sonorous journey in which Francesca's vocal narration is supported by a versatile and enigmatic group, where the acoustic nature of the brasswinds, the string sounds and the drum skins are subtly manipulated by using electronics. The muses that inspired this concept are female figures with a proud crossover character, who escape categorization but embrace an all-round contemporary understanding, both respecting the past and exploring enthusiastically the new: Björk, Becca Stevens, Laura Mvula, Kimbra, Maria Schneider.

The listener is taken by the hand and led into an imaginary garden where, through the music, he can experience the flow of time and its impact on nature, song after song, season after season.

Paolo Fresu
Francesca Gaza’s new work ‘Lilac for People’ is true poetry and carries with it an original
sound as a result of the work she has been doing with her ensemble.

It is almost a collective. A wide ensemble that crafts music through a shared breath, capable of seamlessly combining acoustic and electric sounds with boldness and an expert hand. Between ‘Strange Poet‘ and ‘I Get Along Without You Very Well‘ there is a world of passion and feeling that makes Lilac for People one of the most beautiful albums of this time.

The JazzAlguer Mediterrani Contest is proud to have contributed to the emergence of such an extraordinary project.

Francesca Gaza's Lilac for People is a modern ensemble consisting of eight elements, jazz-rooted but nourished by pop and electronic influences in creating an original and dreamlike chamber jazz-pop.
