Letizia Micheli, who is not even thirty yet, has profoundly musical DNA. A classically trained guitarist, she has played concerts and recorded as an organist, bassist, but most of all as a singer. She’s an all–around musician. Those who don’t know her will certainly be impressed by «Bang Bang», an album where her passions – the blues, rock, jazz but also Mina, her first love – blend admirably. It’s because of her deep, visceral voice whose range and intonation are flawless, but also because of the commendable role played by a “jazz piano trio” that swings the blues in way that’s as good as it gets. Bruno Marini, an esteemed organist and saxophonist who actually plays the piano on this album, is backed up excellently by the tight–knit bass–and–drum team of Marco Arienti and Alberto Olivieri. Letizia Micheli, from Brescia, is a personal, versatile singer we can appreciate even more through the deliberately bare, essential accompaniment. The recording deserves a special mention: in accordance with Brazz Studios’ philosophy, it was made live and with no second takes (it’s a one–take!). The band tried to recreate the sound of live concerts in the studio, without resorting to overdubbing, editing or adjustments in post–production.
