"A Traveler Point of View", il primo album pubblicato a nome del compositore e contrabbassista/bassista elettrico Giuseppe Campisi, dalla storica etichetta italiana AlfaMusic, è caratterizzato da un set di 43 minuti di brani originali, interpretati da un eccezionale ensemble internazionale che comprende José Soares/sax alto, Lucas Martinez/sassofono tenore, Teis Semey/chitarra, Youngwoo Lee/pianoforte e Luís Naval Mengíbar/batteria.

Giuseppe Campisi è un chiaro esempio di bravissimo musicista che è anche un eccezionale compositore, oltre che un bassista estremamente dotato. 

Il suo gruppo rappresenta perfettamente quello che possiamo considerare jazz di matrice europea. Pur mantenendo un forte legame con la tradizione di questa musica la band non nasconde il proprio carattere e le influenze personali dei singoli musicisti. Il risultato è un lavoro esaltante, artisticamente ed intellettualmente - un vero piacere ascoltarlo.

A Traveler Point of View, the first album released under the name of Giuseppe Campisi, is now available!

Published by historic italian label AlfaMusic, it features a 43 minute set of original music, played by an outstanding international ensemble which includes José Soares on alto, Lucas Martìnez on tenor, Teis Semey on guitar, Youngwoo Lee on piano and Lluís Naval on drums.

Giuseppe Campisi exemplifies an ideal blend of a wonderful musician, exceptional composer and magnificent bass player. 

This ensemble epitomizes to me what we would like to define as European jazz. With strong roots in jazz traditional music this band manages to convey their own personal influences, resulting in an exciting, musical and intellectual album - and a pleasure to listen to.

"Per me realizzare un disco è come scattare una foto. Non c'è necessità di cercare una perfezione irreale: la cosa più importante è catturare e preservare la profondità di un momento, raccontando una storia.

Con questa idea in mente - e l'improvvisazione come punto cardine del processo creativo - abbiamo approcciato una serie di mie composizioni ed idee originali che spaziano tra l'estetica jazz e la musica improvvisata ma anche il rock, senza precluderci nessuna possibilità stilistica e senza imporci alcun limite creativo.

A Traveler Point of View è dunque il risultato di due anni passati suonare e sperimentare con questo gruppo di musicisti eccezionali, e mi ritengo estremamente fortunato ad avere assemblato una band di così alta qualità. Questi fantastici artisti hanno intepretato la musica con grande maestria, sensibilità, immaginazione e soprattutto senza la paura di sperimentare e di viaggiare verso luoghi sconosciuti.

"Making a record is like taking a picture. It doesn't need to be perfect, too neat or overly polished: all it has to do is to capture and preserve the depth of a moment - and tell a story.

With this idea in mind - and improvisation as the founding element of the creative process - we've approached a series of my compositions and ideas that refer to the aesthetic of jazz, free improvised music but also rock, setting no stylistic boundaries nor limits for our creativity.

A Traveler Point of View represents the result of two years of playing and experimenting with this ensemble of extremely gifted musicians and I will never be thankful enough for being able to assemble such a high level group of artists. They have interpreted the material with skill, imagination, authority and without seeking permission to bring the music to far and exciting places."
