Quando nel 2011 decisi di intraprendere il
mio viaggio studio a New York per un breve
periodo, non avrei mai potuto immaginare
che la mia vita si sarebbe arricchita di
esperienze musicali ed umane così forti
ed emozionanti. New York è una città
magica, il jazz si respira ovunque, anche
nei supermercati, e proprio in quel vortice
di emozioni ho conosciuto, Gianluca Renzi,
musicista straordinario e diventato poi
mio grande amico, e Jon Davis pianista
come ben pochi in giro... Prima di ripartire
per l’Italia ci siamo fatti una promessa:
la volta seguente in cui sarei tornata a
New York avremmo registrato, insieme,
il mio disco, il mio jazz. E così è stato,
promessa mantenuta, a settembre 2015
con la mia valigia carica di idee e sogni
son ripartita per registrare “le Canzoni” che
hanno accompagnato la mia adolescenza,
le più belle di Simon & Garfunkel, con il
loro live al Central Park, questa volta con
sonorità diverse (grazie agli arrangiamenti
di Gianluca). Il 9/9 abbiamo registrato
9 tracce, cosa del tutto casuale …pura
coincidenza o cosa? “Further to fly” è il mio
desiderio di spiccare “un Volo Ulteriore”,
sempre. e tutte le volte che vorrò e che la
vita me lo concederà.

When I decided to go to New York for a study
trip for a short period in 2011, I could never have
imagined that my life would have been enriched
by such powerful and exciting musical and
human experiences. New York is a magical city
in which jazz can be heard everywhere, even in
the supermarkets, and it was in that whirlwind of
emotions that I got to know Gianluca Renzi, an
extraordinary musician who would soon become
a great friend, as well as Jon Davis, a pianist like
very few others who were on the scene... Before
I set off for Italy again we promised each other
that, when I next returned to New York, we would
make a record together of my own jazz. And
so this promise was kept when I came back in
September 2015, with a suitcase and a head
full of ideas and dreams, ready and willing to
record “The Songs” that had accompanied my
adolescence. These were the most beautiful
compositions of Simon & Garfunkel that they had
played live at Central Park, but this time with some
rather different sounds and sonorities (thanks to
the arrangements by Gianluca). On the 9th day
of the 9th month we recorded 9 tracks, and I
wondered if this was a complete coincidence…
or perhaps it was not so random? “Further to Fly”
expresses my desire to launch myself on a further
flight… always… as many times as I want to, and
as many times as my life will allow me to.
