Il titolo di questo lavoro scaturisce dalla voglia di rinascita, come il meraviglioso spettacolo che la primavera ci offre.

L'idea di fare un disco tutto mio è spinta dallo sprone di Francesco Palmitessa amico di infanzia che, sin dai tempi in cui ci rinchiudevamo in cantina a suonare, insisteva sul fatto che avrei dovuto registrare un disco a nome mio. Tuttavia gli eventi hanno voluto che passasse del tempo e che questa idea si rafforzasse e diventasse più concreta. Avevo già le idee chiare sui musicisti che avrebbero dovuto far parte di questo progetto.

Nicola Borrelli è stata la mia spalla.

Entusiasta, disponibile, professionale e pieno di talento, una sicurezza insomma!

Poi ho chiamato Giovanni Amato a cui ho chiesto se gli avesse fatto piacere suonare nel mio disco; con tutta la sua schiettezza da campano verace mi disse “si, mi ha accennato Francesco: amma fà o’ disc”. Scontato parlare della grandezza di questo musicista, semplicemente fantastico!

Sono veramente felice di aver condiviso le mie note con le sue.

La collaborazione che è nata fra di noi ha un nonsochè di magico e, aver messo a disposizione ognuno la propria esperienza, ha fatto in modo che Flowers diventasse un progetto originale.

Per registrare questa musica sono state dette poche parole fra di noi per intenderci sul risultato che avrei voluto venisse fuori e, devo ammettere che con tre musicisti di questo spessore, non è stato difficile raggiungerlo.

Flowers contiene quattro standard e quattro brani originali.

Le emozioni che ho provato alla fine delle sessioni di registrazione mi hanno riportato indietro nel tempo a quando mi diplomai in conservatorio, quella sensazione di aver messo un punto ad un percorso lungo fatto di fatiche, dolori ma soprattutto gioie e tanta soddisfazione.

The title of this work originates from a desire of “rebirth”, just like flowers blooming in spring offering us a spectacular show. The creation of this album was pushed by Francesco Palmitessa, an old friend of mine, who already insisted on making me record my own album ever since we were kids and played in our basement. Nevertheless, this project took some time and a series of events to become concrete, even though I already had a clear idea on which musicians would take part in it. Nicola Borrelli has been my right-hand man. He is such a passionate, willing, professional and talented person, he had to take part in it for sure! Then I called Giovanni Amato and I asked him if he would like to play in my album and he, with his extreme frankness, replied, “Yes, I know, Francesco mentioned it, we gotta record this album together”. I do not even mention the greatness of this musician who is simply amazing! I am really glad to have shared my notes with his. The collaboration which arose among all of us is something magical and I believe that sharing all of our different experiences has helped Flowers to become an original project. While recording, no many words have been said among us to agree on the result that I had in mind. But I must admit that this goal was not hard to achieve, being these three friends profound musicians. Flowers includes four standard tracks and four original tracks. The emotions I felt at the end of the registration sessions have taken me back in time when I graduated from the conservatory. I had the same feeling to have ended a long journey, made of pain but also, most of all, so much joy and satisfaction.
