This album is dedicated to Marco Birro, a pianist who died prematurely in March 2020, only twenty-six years old. After graduating from the Conservatory of Vicenza Marco, an early and very young talent of Italian jazz, had completed his studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Even with only one leading album, "Un bellissimo albero", the pianist had earned the praise of all the musicians and fans, and he had just returned home from Boston when he decided to leave us in a sudden and unexpected way. Now, three years later, four of his fellow students at the Conservatory as well as friends, have decided to remember and pay tribute to him. They did it in the best way, recording nine of his unreleased compositions, with original arrangements and at the same time respectful of the original themes. The vocalist Valentina Fin, the main architect of the project, wrote some short but deep texts on four of them. The quartet also used the precious help of two famous saxophonists, Robert Bonisolo and Pietro Tonolo, former teachers of Marco, like the father Paolo Birro, a long–time pianist among the most sensitive and original of our country, who gives us a moving interpretation in trio of the wonderful Solar Panels.
