La prima sensazione che si avverte già dalle prime note di questo disco è di una freschezza d’ascolto che cattura immediatamente.

Una raccolta di brani che non ha bisogno di classificazioni di genere musicale ma che dimostra una chiarezza compositiva e un senso formale che “osa, ma con semplicità” (ossimoro d’obbligo) sia nel linguaggio e nel suo sviluppo che nella scelta timbrica.

Difatti, i molteplici rimandi culturali-musicali i cui echi sono presenti, disseminati in tutti i brani e nei loro arrangiamenti, si aprono a ventaglio sprigionando mondi e suggestioni apparentemente lontani tra loro ma in una coerenza naturale, senza mai correre il rischio di risultare avulsi o fuori luogo.

Alex Carreri non si perde in inutili preamboli strutturali, pretestuose introduzioni, assoli prolissi o code sproporzionate; i brani vanno dritti al punto e colpiscono! E ciò accade grazie al sapiente dosaggio di elementi precipui introdotti da musicisti che non hanno bisogno di presentazioni e che instillano il loro suono e la loro

personalità in tutto il lavoro, senza mai eccedere; anzi, contribuendo a quel meraviglioso equilibrio di elementi apparentemente eterogenei di cui si diceva.

In definitiva, “a time and a place” risulta un lavoro di spessore che è destinato, ne sono certo, a lasciare una traccia indelebile.

The first feeling one gets from the first notes of this album is of a

freshness of listening that immediately captivates.

A collection of tracks that needs no classification of musical genre but

demonstrates a compositional clarity and formal sense that 'dares, but with simplicity' (oxymoron obligatory) both in language and in the development and choice of timbre.

In fact, the multiple cultural-musical references whose echoes are

present, scattered throughout the tracks and their arrangements, spread out, releasing worlds and suggestions apparently distant from each other but in a natural coherence, without ever running the risk of separating or being out of place.

Alex Carreri does not get lost in unnecessary structural preambles,

captious introductions, long solos or disproportionate coda; the

compositions go straight to the point and strike. And this is thanks to the skilful dosing of specific elements introduced by musicians who need no introduction and who infuse their sound and personality throughout the record, without ever overdoing it, on the contrary,

contributing to that marvellous balance of seemingly heterogeneous elements we mentioned.

Overall, “a time and a place” is a work of depth, destined, I am sure, to leave an indelible mark.
