Verso la Luce. La sua uscita è un momento molto importante e atteso

nella mia vita. L‘idea di registrare un mio album mi accompagnava da molto tempo, anche se per molti anni mi è sembrata un sogno lontano. Ho iniziato a comporre musica mentre vivevo ancora a Mosca, dove sono stati scritti Eretz e Shivorot Navivorot. In seguito, durante i miei studi magistrali al Saint Louis College of Music di Roma con il Maestro Rosario Giuliani (grande sassofonista), ho continuato a lavorare sulla composizione sotto la guida dei miei insegnanti Gabriele Ceccarelli e Antonio Solimene. Il loro supporto e la loro ispirazione mi hanno aiutato a scrivere nuovi brani come Verso la Luce, To Rachel, Vesuvio e True or False. Un altro passo importante è stata la formazione del mio quartetto con Giuseppe Sacchi (pianoforte), Vincenzo Quirico (basso) e Daniel Besthorn (batteria). Ci siamo conosciuti mentre studiavamo al Saint Louis College of Music di Roma e sono profondamente grato che dal nostro incontro sia nata una forte amicizia e una collaborazione musicale molto creativa. Il titolo dell’album Verso la Luce racchiude l‘idea che l‘unica vera strada è quella che conduce verso la luce, una luce che ha sempre illuminato e continua a riempire questo mondo. L’album include composizioni scritte in periodi diversi, ognuna delle quali riflette i miei sentimenti, le mie emozioni e le mie esperienze che voglio qui condividere con voi:

1 Intro - una breve traccia d‘apertura, che simboleggia la nascita

della luce.

2 Verso la Luce - il brano che dà il titolo all‘album. Sono particolarmente felice che abbia come ospite speciale il mio insegnante e grande sassofonista Rosario Giuliani.

3 Eretz - dall‘ebraico "terra". Questa composizione è dedicata a Israele, un paese che amo e che occupa un posto speciale nel mio

cuore.

4 True or False - una riflessione sull‘eterna lotta tra gli opposti: verità e menzogna, bene e male.

5 To Rachel - una ballata dedicata alla memoria di mia nonna

Rachel, che ha significato molto per me e di cui sento tanto la mancanza.

6 Shivorot Navivorot - deriva da un‘espressione idiomatica russa.

Il suo significato ha ispirato questa melodia giocosa.

7 Vesuvio - nato dopo un viaggio a Napoli, questo brano cattura

la maestosità e la placida presenza del Vesuvio che si erge sul Mar

Mediterraneo.

8 Waking Around - una composizione di Rosario Giuliani. È un grande onore per me che questo brano, eseguito insieme a lui, sia

entrato a far parte dell‘album. 

Igor Senderov 

La prima volta che ho incontrato Igor risale al 2017, durante un mio

tour in Russia. Eravamo a Irkutsk (sua città natale) e ci ritrovammo

a condividere una jam session. Fu subito chiaro per me che avevo

davanti un giovane dal grande potenziale. Qualche anno dopo, Igor

ha deciso di venire a Roma per proseguire i suoi studi al Saint Louis

College of Music. Abbiamo lavorato insieme per due anni intensi

e stimolanti, durante i quali ha dimostrato una professionalità e

una passione rare, qualità essenziali per chi sceglie di dedicarsi

seriamente alla musica. Questo album di debutto rappresenta

pienamente la sua sensibilità artistica. Sono felice di aver potuto

accompagnarlo come guida nel suo percorso e di aver contribuito

a questa registrazione. 

Rosario Giuliani 

Igor Senderov dimostra una grande maturità musicale e una

sensibilità compositiva autentica. In questo album, il suo linguaggio

si intreccia perfettamente con quello dei suoi compagni di viaggio,

dando vita a un dialogo intenso e ispirato. La presenza di un

maestro come Rosario Giuliani arricchisce ulteriormente il progetto,

aggiungendo profondità e lirismo a una musica già di per sé

coinvolgente.

Quando ho saputo di questo album mi sono chiesto: come farà igor

a mettere insieme tutte le diverse influenze culturali della sua vita?

Igor è russo con una importante componente israeliana, ha studiato 

jazz americano e si è perfezionato in italia...anche nella sua band ci

sono musicisti di diverse nazionalità. Ascoltando il disco ho avuto

l‘impressione che l‘influenza più forte sia quella del jazz moderno

americano, con una certa attenzione alla scena di new York. Da

amico e collega di igor voglio sperare che il tempo passato in italia

e il lavoro svolto insieme abbia contribuito per la realizzazione di

questo disco, mi auguro che questa esperienza di arte e di vita

continui a ispirare lavori futuri.

Verso la Luce. Its release is a very important and long-awaited moment in my life - the realization of a dream that has stayed with me for many years. I am truly excited to share with you my original music, my thoughts, feelings, and emotions. The idea of recording my own album had accompanied me for a long time. I began composing while still living in Moscow - that’s where Eretz and Shivorot Navivorot were written. Later, during my Master’s studies at the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome with Rosario Giuliani, I continued writing with the guidance and support of my teachers Gabriele Ceccarelli and Antonio Solimene. Thanks to their inspiration, new pieces were born: Verso la Luce, To Rachel, Vesuvio, and True or False. Some compositions were later written in Israel as well, each reflecting its own period of life. Another important milestone was forming my quartet with Giuseppe Sacchi (piano), Vincenzo Quirico (bass), and Daniel Besthorn (drums). We met while studying at Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, and I am deeply grateful that from this meeting grew both: a close friendship and a strong creative collaboration. 

Verso la Luce - “Toward the Light” - carries the idea that the

only true path is the one that leads toward the light: a light that has

always illuminated and continues to fill this world. Despite all the

difficulties and challenges our lives and our world face, the path of

truth, the path of light, and the path of God will always guide us in

the right direction. This album brings together compositions written at different times - each reflecting moments, feelings, and experiences that I want to share with you:

1. Intro - a short opening track symbolizing the birth of light.

2. Verso la Luce - the title track, carrying the core idea of the

album. I am especially honored that it features my teacher and great

saxophonist Rosario Giuliani as a special guest.

3. Eretz - from Hebrew, meaning “land,” dedicated to Israel, a

country I love deeply.

4. True or False - a reflection on the eternal conflict between

opposites: truth and lies, good and evil.

5. To Rachel - a ballad dedicated to the memory of my grandmother

Rachel, who meant so much to me, and whom I miss deeply.

6. Shivorot Navyvorot - inspired by the imagery of a Russian idiom

that gave rise to this playful melody. 

7. Vesuvio - written after a trip to Naples, capturing the majesty and

calm presence of Mount Vesuvius above the Mediterranean Sea.

8. Waking Around - a composition by Rosario Giuliani. It is a great

honor for me that this piece, performed together with him, became

part of the album.

Igor Senderov 

The first time I met Igor was back in 2017, during one of my tours in

Russia. We were in Irkutsk, his hometown, and ended up sharing a

jam session. It was immediately clear to me that I was in front of a

young musician with great potential. A few years later, Igor decided

to move to Rome to continue his studies at the Saint Louis College

of Music. We worked together for two intense and inspiring years,

during which he showed a rare combination of professionalism and

passion, essential qualities for anyone seriously pursuing a life in

music. This debut album fully reflects his artistic sensitivity. I’m glad

to have accompanied him as a mentor on his path and to have

taken part in this recording. 

A special mention also goes to Daniel, Vincenzo, and Giuseppe,

extraordinary musicians who supported and elevated Igor’s music

with great taste and skill. A sincere, authentic, and talent-filled

project. Highly recommended.

Rosario Giuliani (Italian jazz saxophonist) 

Igor Senderov displays remarkable musical maturity

and a truly authentic compositional sensitivity. In this album, his

language blends seamlessly with that of his fellow musicians, giving

rise to an intense and inspired dialogue. The presence of a master

like Rosario Giuliani further enriches the project, adding depth and

lyricism to music that is already deeply engaging.

Shai Maestro (Israeli jazz pianist) 

When I heard about this album, I asked myself: how will Igor

bring together all the different cultural influences in his life? Igor is

Russian, with a strong Israeli background; he studied American

jazz and continued his development in Italy... Even in his band,

there are musicians of various nationalities. Listening to the album,

my impression was that the strongest influence is that of modern

American jazz, with particular attention to the New York scene. As a

friend and colleague of Igor, I’d like to believe that the time he spent

in Italy and the work we did together contributed in some way to the

creation of this album. I hope that this experience - both artistic and

personal - will continue to inspire his future work.
